Advisory Groups

The Advisory Board is made up of two main groups:

  • Futures Board
  • Stakeholder's Committee
  • Futures Board

    The Center receives guidance and support from its external advisory council, The Futures Board. The Board is composed of up to 21 members representing a variety of aging-related agencies, organizations, and services across the state of Virginia. The Board meets in Blacksburg twice a year.

    The purposes of the Futures Board of the Center for Gerontology are to:

    1. Advise the Center regarding current and future programs and activities;
    2. Support the development of financial and other resources for the Center, to the extent that such development activities are not in conflict with the Board members' organizations;
    3. Offer educational opportunities for gerontology students; and
    4. Help establish positive relationships between the Center and appropriate public and private organizations.

    Stakeholder's Committee

    According to Virginia Tech's Administrative Policy 3020, all University Centers shall be governed by a Stakeholder's Committee composed of administrative representatives from each academic unit that is providing substantial fiscal or material support for the Center. The Stakeholder's Committee, which meets twice annually, has oversight of all financial, administrative, and fiduciary affairs of the Center.
